Interview with Gyula Csík

Our fifth guest Gyula Csík in our expert interview series is a UX/UI designer who has been shaping Pro-Sharp's user experience for nearly 11 years and counting. His journey with us started even before the company's founding, through collaborative projects with Ricardo that eventually led him to take the leap and join the team.

What is your exact position at Pro-Sharp, and how did you get here?

I’ve been working as a UX / UI designer at Pro-Sharp for almost 11 years now – I joined the company in its early years as one of the first team members. I’ve known Ricardo, our CEO, even before the company was founded; we worked together on several projects, including vokskabin.hu. When he founded Pro-Sharp, he reached out and said he’d like me to join the team. At the time, I was working somewhere else, but the opportunity sounded so exciting that I decided to take the leap and I’ve been here ever since.

What projects are you currently working on, and what do you enjoy most about your daily work?

Over the years, I've been involved in most of the projects for our biggest partner and I continue to work on many of them to this day. Right now, I’m working as part of an international team on a software solution that supports extended producer responsibility, which will soon be rolled out across several EU countries.

What I love most about my job is that it’s never boring. I’m proud that, even within the boundaries of strict technological requirements and standards, we always manage to focus on user experience and deliver high-quality, thoughtful solutions for our clients and their users.

What has been the most interesting technological challenge or project for you so far, and why?

Over the years, I’ve experienced several major technological shifts in our products, each with its own challenges. But one of the most exciting and challenging projects was designing the UX and UI for an application built on the event sourcing pattern.

What did you learn from it?

I’ve always believed that close collaboration with developers is key, but for major technological changes – like adopting an event sourcing pattern or working with large language models – this partnership becomes even more important. Whenever there’s a chance, it’s worth diving deep into new technologies, because they can completely reshape how you think about design and solve problems.

If you weren’t doing this job, what would you be doing instead?

When I was younger, I probably would have said I wanted to be a rock star. These days, as a family man, my goals are a bit more grounded: I’d run my own coffee shop during the day and illustrate album covers for indie bands at night.

Do you have any hobbies or passions that help you unwind outside of work?

Spending quality time with my wife and daughter always helps me relax. I’ve also been a huge video game enthusiast ever since I was a kid. Sometimes I also love just sitting in a coffee shop with my sketchbook and just switching off by sketching and writing whatever comes to mind. It’s a nice way to recharge and keep the creativity flowing.
